Family Environmental Play DayEastrop Park, Basingstoke, Climbing, pond dipping, face painting, outdoor games, craft workshops, street
theatre and circus skills are just some of the many exciting activities that
will be on offer in Eastrop Park on Wednesday 20 August. The Family Play Day, a free event, from 11am to 4pm has been organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and will give parents and their children the opportunity to take part in a wide range of fun and environmental focused activities together. This year with the added focus on the environment, there will environmental information available on areas such as recycling, climate change, composting and food waste. Basingstoke Model Boat Club will also be in attendance. Residents are invited to bring a picnic and use the open air event to discover the wildlife that lives in the park?s ponds and learn more about the environment in which they live. There will be free car parking available on the Old Common, London Road and the Council has organised a special free shuttle bus to the event between 10.45am and 4.20pm from the Old Common. This year there will be no available parking at Eastrop Park. In addition this year there will be the facility for visitors who cycle to the event to ?park? their bike and have it safety checked while they enjoy the day. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council?s Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure, Cllr Chapman said: ?This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to come and take part in a huge variety of great activites and learn more about the environment and how they can help preserve it.?
