Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy BasingstokeShin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy teaches in a number of venues across Basingstoke to both adults and children. We have a number of new classes and new beginners courses starting during July and August, we provide a free taster class for prospective students to see what we do and how we train. Further information is available on 01256 883302 or info@basingstokekarate.com In our Basingstoke Martial Arts Academy, children not only learn self defence skills, they learn much more from us. Martial Arts and Karate training with us is different, its fun, its exciting and as a life skill is invaluable. Our children’s classes are split by age and ability group, unlike many clubs this gives us the opportunity to focus on the specific needs of the individual student as they are taught according to their own level. The distinct advantage to this, is that they learn faster and progress quicker. Like school, they move into different classes as they get older and become more knowledgeable. At each stage we increase the complexity of what they do in order to improve their skill levels still further. Our adult classes are a lot more demanding than the children’s classes, both physically and mentally for the students. Individually students are pushed as much as they wish to, in order to help them achieve their goals from their fitness and Martial Arts training. We have a range of classes suitable for adults, ranging from Martial Arts (Karate, Tai Chi, MMA) to fitness classes. Depending upon the classes, it can be a light to medium workout through to full intensity. One of the paramount things to stress is that safety is an important aspect of what we do. Both in terms of ensuring the correct safety equipment is used to prevent injuries, but also ensuring that each student fully understands each technique they learn and develop it to suit their own body to ensure no damage is done to joints and muscles. Unlike many clubs, we take a holistic approach to martial arts, they should be studied to enhance your physical abilities, and to promote health as well as fitness. Unlike some franchises and chains of martial arts schools, we don’t use someone else’s good reputation to sell our classes, nor do we use instructors who have only been training a short while, in some cases mere months. We have an excellent reputation for teaching quality Martial Arts built up over 30 years of training and coaching at very senior levels. Our instructors are CRB checked every year to an enhanced level, first aid trained and properly insured. All students also are fully insured in their own right. In addition we are all qualified and approved as Martial Arts Instructors by The Martial Arts Standards Agency, the body that promotes excellence and quality standards in the Martial Arts. The Martial Arts Standards Agency recommends that Associations / Clubs use a system of Instructor Accreditation. This would confirm that • All instructors are senior Dan grade / Black Level level instructors in the art taught. • All instructors carry Professional Insurance for £5 million. • All instructors have an enhanced Criminal Record Board check annually. • All instructors have a professional coaching qualification that covers health and safety, how to coach adults and children, protection of children from abuse, lesson planning and risk Management • The Centre has a 'clear pricing policy' with no hidden charges. In addition to being highly qualified martial artists we have also undergone formal teacher training both within and external to the martial arts. We know that being a great martial artist is not enough, it is equally important to be a great teacher and to be able to communicate effectively with students of all ages and abilities, this is something we pride ourselves on. We have many systems in place within the Academy to recognise effort and achievement within our students including trophies, stickers, badges and special awards. We recognise all achievements in our students, not only those who are physically talented but also those who, for example, are polite, hard working, thoughtful towards others or show good attendance.
