Attempted theft of removal lorry

Attempted theft of removal lorry Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in Hamilton Close on Monday, October 25.

Around 9pm, officers were called to Robinsons International Removals depot following reports that someone was trying to steal a lorry.

When police arrived, the offenders drove out of the depot in a black Peugeot 405 and were in collision with a marked police car, which caused two other marked police vehicles to collide.

The offenders then drove off.

No-one was injured during the incident and nothing was stolen.

PC Wendy Austin, from Basingstoke CID, said: “This incident happened very quickly and has resulted in damage to three police cars and the lorry.

“Fortunately, nothing was stolen and no-one was injured, but we’d like to hear from anyone who saw the Peugeot 405 in the area last night, or has any information about who was responsible for this attempted theft.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Austin at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
