Witnesses sought to Popley arson
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information following an arson in Popley on Tuesday, August 31. Sometime between 1am and 1.40am, the tyres of a kebab van parked in Tewkesbury Road, at the junction of Pershore Road, was set on fire. PC John Goddard, from the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This is being treated as a deliberate attack and I’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area of Pershore Road, possibly carrying a petrol container, during the early hours of Tuesday morning to get in touch.” Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Goddard at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
