Appeal following Brighton Hill burglary

Appeal following Brighton Hill burglary Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information and witnesses following a burglary at an address Brighton Hill on Tuesday, November 3.

Between 3am and 3.20am, up to 10 people smashed their way into a house in Schubert Road and threatened the 23-year-old resident.

Once inside, they stole £200, an Acer laptop, a Dell laptop and a PlayStation 3 console.

The suspects, two of whom were wearing balaclavas and gloves, spoke with an Afro-Caribbean London accent and used ‘gangster’ slang.

Detective Constable Colin Squibb, from Basingstoke CID, said: “Although this incident sounds frightening, we would like to reassure people that this was not a random attack.

“We believe this was a targeted burglary and possibly gang-related, so would appeal particularly to the criminal fraternity to come forward with information to help us identify those responsible.

“If you do not want to speak to the police, then call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw a large group of men in the area during the early hours, or saw vehicles they did not recognise.

“Also, if you are offered a laptop or PlayStation for sale, or know of someone who has recently come into possession of such an item, then please get in touch.”

Can you help?

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Squibb at Basingstoke CID on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Mini-Com users can call 01962 875000. From outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, please call 0845 045 45 45.
