Community safety team give advice to spooky walkers

To support two of the Community Safety Forum’s priorities, tackling the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour, the council’s community safety team will be handing out safety information and advice on the night. One of the key issues reported to the council and the police around Halloween is anti-social behaviour associated with trick or treaters. However, it’s a fun time of year for people of all ages and the council wants people to enjoy the time, but also respect those who don’t want to get involved. By following these top tips, everyone can enjoy Halloween: alone.
Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Development and Transport Cllr Clive Sanders said: “We want people to have fun around Halloween, but some residents, particularly the old or infirm, find those who trick or treat intimidating. We don’t want to stop people from trick or treating, we just ask them to respect those who don’t want to take part.” Your OpinionsBe the first to add a CommentCommunity safety team give advice to spooky walkers has received votes and currently has a rating of Hits to date: Top Rated NewsResidents are being urged to work with the council to ensure that travellers sited illegally on land in the borough move as quickly as possible if the...MoreCllr Brian Gurden was appointed Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane during the Mayor-making ceremony, held at the council's Civic Offices on Thursday 14 Ma...More Alternative NewsCrime Reduction Environment Work (CREW) returns on 8 and 9 July to Brighton Hill to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour issues as well as cleaning...MoreAt around 12.45pm a 19-year-old man was walking along the ramp that leads towards the Brighton Hill subway roundabout at The Harrow Way.
