Mayor Awards Volunteers
Unsung heroes and volunteers from across the borough will be recognised for their hard work at the annual Basingstoke Voluntary Service Awards hosted by the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Brian Gurden on Tuesday 27 October 2009. Each year the Basingstoke Voluntary Services asks for nominations from community groups, organisations and schools who would like to recognise the excellent work done by their volunteers. Commenting on the awards, Cllr Gurden, said: “The borough of Basingstoke and Deane has a huge amount of volunteers who work tirelessly and often without recognition for our local organisations and I am delighted to be able to acknowledge the great work that they do.” The media are welcome to attend this event. The awards ceremony will start at 7.30pm in the Council Chambers, Civic Offices, London Road.
