Assault in Basingstoke town centre
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information after an assault in the town during the early hours of Sunday, October 11.

Between 2am and 2.15am a 19-year-old man was waiting to be collected near to the bus station in Basingstoke town centre.

He was approached by a group of men who assaulted him. One of the men is described as black and of large build.

The victim suffered a swollen eye and received hospital treatment.

PC Richard Wright, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This incident happened at a time when pubs and clubs in the town would have been closing so there would have been a number of people around.

“We want any witnesses or anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”
