Cars set on fire in Brighton Hill
Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses after two arsons in the town during the early hours of Monday, August 10.
At around 12.20am a Peugeot 206 was set on fire while it was parked in the driveway of an address in Patterson Close. The fire caused serious damage to the vehicle and also damaged a Vauxhall Astra which was parked along side it. Then just before 2am a Subaru was set alight while it was parked on the driveway of an address in Cumberland Avenue. Officers are treating both incidents as arson and believe they are linked. Detective Constable Jon Swift, of Basingstoke CID, said: “In both of these incidents the cars were parked close to homes and it is fortunate nobody was injured. “Fire is extremely dangerous and can quickly spread and people who commit this kind of crime put themselves and others at risk. “We would ask anyone who witnessed the incidents to contact us as soon as possible.” Can you help?
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Swift at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
