Attempted robbery at Tescos in Kempshott

Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in the town on Wednesday, August 5.

At 10.15pm a man and his accomplice, who were wearing motorcycle helmets, entered Tesco Express in Buckingham Parade and demanded money from the cashier.

Nothing was handed over and the pair then left the shop empty handed. They were last seen driving off on a motorcycle along Kempshott Lane.

The man is described as:

  • Around 5ft 8ins tall
  • Stocky build
  • Spoke with a local accent
  • Aged between late 20s and early 30s
  • Wearing a grey motorcycle helmet

The accomplice is described as:

  • Around 5ft 10ins tall
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing a red motorcycle helmet
Detective Constable Paul Smith, of Basingstoke CID, said: “This was an isolated incident and we are taking it seriously.

“A number of people were in the area at the time and may have important information about the two people responsible.

“The motorcycle was left running outside the shop during the incident and we believe it may have a modified exhaust.

“We would ask anyone with information or anyone who saw a motorcycle in the area with a loud exhaust to contact us as soon as possible.”
Can you help?
