Man threatened with knife in Brighton Hill

Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Brighton Hill on Monday, August 3.

At around 12.45pm a 19-year-old man was walking along the ramp that leads towards the Brighton Hill subway roundabout at The Harrow Way.

He was approached by a man who threatened him with a knife. The victim ran away towards The Harrow Way but a second man tackled him to the floor.

He was then punched and kicked while on the floor by the two men and a third man. They demanded money from him and then ran off.

Nothing was stolen. The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his head and upper body and was treated at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

The first attacker is described as:

  • White
  • Aged around 17
  • 5ft 5ins tall
  • Slim build
  • Blonde hair
  • Wearing a flat peaked cap

The second attacker is described as: 

  • White
  • Aged around 20 years old
  • 5ft 8ins tall
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing a hooded top

The third attacker is described as: 

  • Black
  • Aged in his early 20s
  • Muscular build
  • Wearing a red, round neck tee shirt and black trousers
Detective Constable Colin Squibb, of Basingstoke CID, said: “This was a violent attack and we are taking it seriously.

“It was an isolated incident and we would ask anyone with information or any witnesses to contact us as soon as possible.

“We would urge anyone who is thinking about carrying a knife to think twice, knife crime will not be tolerated in Basingstoke.”
