Indecent assault in Brighton Hill

Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information after an indecent assault in Brighton Hill on Friday, July 3.

At around 7.20am a 40-year-old woman was walking along a footpath towards Gershwin Road.

After passing the metal barriers on the footpath she was approached by three men walking towards her.

One of the men indecently assaulted the woman and then pushed her onto the floor and indecently exposed himself to her.

All three men then ran off towards the green at the rear of Bernstein Road.

The main offender is described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his early 20s
  • Around 6ft tall
  • Slim build
  • Cropped, blond hair
  • Wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded top and trainers
The other two men were white, aged in their 20s, around 6ft tall and were wearing hooded tops, jeans and trainers.

Detective Constable Rebecca Martinez, of Basingstoke CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked incident that left the victim extremely shaken up, although fortunately she did not receive any serious injuries.

“It happened at a time of day when other people may have been around and we want to hear from anyone with information about it or anyone who saw three men acting suspiciously in the area.”

Can you help?

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Martinez at Alton police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Mini-Com users can call 01962 875000.
