Residents invited to face the people
Residents across Basingstoke and Deane are being invited to a special question and answer’s event being run by the borough’s safety forum on Wednesday 27 May. The Face the People event will give residents the opportunity to hear what the Community Safety Forum is doing to maintain safety in the borough, as well as giving those attending an opportunity to ask questions, suggest ways to improve safety and raise concerns they may have. This is part of an ongoing aim to raise public perception of the work of the Community Safety Forum and to address issues with fear of crime in the borough. Joint Chair of the Community Safety Forum, Head of Community Protection at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Tricia Hughes said: “We want residents to come along to find out more about what the forum is doing to maintain safety across the borough. “Basingstoke and Deane is a safe place to live in, but this is also a great opportunity to really understand what concerns residents may have and to listen to how they think we could solve any issues in their community.” Acting Chief Inspector Simon Dodds, acting district commander for Basingstoke and Deane, said: “Finding out what is important to the community plays a significant part in shaping our local policing priorities and is at the core of neighbourhood policing. “I hope people will come along to the forum to find out how we are working in partnership with other agencies to keep Basingstoke and Deane a safe place in which to live, work and visit.” The event will take place at Carnival Hall, Council Road, Basingstoke from 6.30 to 7.30pm. Residents can simply turn up on the day with questions or just to listen, or send questions in advance by emailing community.safety@basingstoke.gov.uk, or call 01256 845399 or write to Face the People event, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, FREEPOST BZ740, Basingstoke, RG21 4GA.
