17 year old girl robbed in Basingstoke

17 year old girl robbed in Basingstoke Police in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in the town on Thursday, March 19.

At around 11.15pm a 17-year-old girl was walking along Silvester Close when she was approached by two men.

One of the men punched the woman in the face and the other threw her to the ground. They then stole her handbag and ran off.

Both men were around 5ft 8ins tall, were wearing dark clothing and had scarves covering their faces. Nothing of value was in the bag when it was stolen.

The victim suffered bruising to her face following the incident.

PC Richard Chegwidden, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “Although nothing of value was stolen this was a nasty robbery and the victim was fortunate to only receive a minor injury.

“We would ask anyone who witnessed the robbery or may have been disturbed by it to contact police as soon as possible.”

Can you help?

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Chegwidden at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Mini-Com users can call 01962 875000.
