Man assaulted in Winklebury Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Winklebury on Thursday, August 21. Sometime between 9.40pm and 9.50pm a 38-year-old man was assaulted by three men on Watson Way near to the Wellington Social Club and the bus stop. He suffered a fractured eye socket and cheek bone and is being treated at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. Police have issued descriptions of two men they would like to speak to. The first man is described as:
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Winklebury underpass near to the bus stop and may have witnessed the assault. “Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time is urged to contact police as soon as possible.” An 18-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested and bailed in connection with this incident.
