Atempted robbery at Basingstoke restaurantDetectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information after an attempted robbery at a fast food restaurant in Brighton Hill on Monday, August 4.

At around 10.45pm a man entered Pizza Hut at the Brighton Hill Retail Park and threatened the manager with a firearm and demanded money.

However the manager of the store was unable to open the safe and the man left the restaurant and made off on a moped or small motorcycle.

The man is described as: 

  • White
  • 20 to 35 years old
  • Pale skin
  • Local accent
  • 6ft to 6ft 1ins tall
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing a black balaclava, navy blue woolly hat, baggy grey hooded top, baggy blue jogging bottoms, dark trainers, black gloves and carrying a blue rucksack

Detective Constable Paul Smith, of Basingstoke CID, said: “These kind of incidents are rare and we are working hard to find the person responsible.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area last night or who saw a man matching the description riding a moped or motorcycle away from the scene.”

A 17-year-old boy from Basingstoke has been arrested and bailed in connection with this incident.
