Detectives investigating Dummer body release more detailsDetectives investigating the discovery of a body in Dummer on Thursday, May 8 have released further details about the victim and how she arrived at the scene.

Just before 6.30am on Thursday, the burnt body of a woman was found just off the Wayfarer?s Way in Dummer.

Enquiries so far show the woman was dead when she was brought to the site. Officers can now confirm that the woman was brought to the scene in a suitcase and set alight. The suitcase was an ?Eagle? case and enquiries are ongoing to determine the exact case that was used.

Given the remote location of the site, the person who brought the woman?s body to the scene would have needed to use a vehicle. The scene is half a mile from the centre of the village along a concrete track.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw a vehicle in the area on Wednesday or Thursday, and in particular anyone who may have driven up or down the track on either of those days, as they may have vital information that could assist police in this investigation.

The public?s help is also needed to identify the victim. It is thought she was white, aged in her late teens to early 30s and of slender build. She had never borne children and was healthy.

Further tests have found she had blonde or light brown hair. Her nationality is still not known. At the time of her death, she was wearing a distinctive wallpaper print size 10 grey New Look hooded top.

She was also wearing an unusual watch. This is a watch that is distributed by a company called Hama, a consumer electronics company based in Basingstoke. These watches are not for sale; they are given to selected business customers or employees and are therefore quite rare. The company?s logo is on the face of the watch in silver.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary O?Flaherty said: ?Do you know someone with a watch and jacket like these? Is she your daughter, sister, wife or girlfriend? Is she a neighbour or a friend you haven?t seen recently?

?I would again appeal to anyone who knows someone matching this description that has not turned up for work, or who they cannot contact, to get in touch with us.

?I would like to thank the community of Dummer for their co-operation and assistance and everyone who has come forward with information so far.

?We are keen to hear from any dog walkers, runners, poachers, ramblers or anyone else who uses that area regularly that may have seen any suspicious activity.

?The public are vital in helping us to catch the person responsible for this appalling crime.?

Can you help?

Anyone with information is asked to contact?the?Major Crime Team?quoting Operation Fletcher?on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Mini-Com users can call 01962 875000.
